Job summary

Okcu in Oklahoma City, Facilities Department, seeks a Carpenter/Maintenance Tech III to perform skilled carpentry work, build, repair, remodel, and maintain campus buildings and equipment under the supervision of the Assistant Director of Facilities.

Three to five years of carpentry experience is required; duties include remodeling cabinets, installing doors, reading blueprints, and ensuring safety. This non-exempt hourly position offers hands-on projects and a team-focused environment.

Qualifications

  • Three (3) to five (5) years of skilled carpentry experience is required; or three (3) to five (5) years of experience performing duties including skilled carpentry work; or equivalent combination of training, education, and experience that would provide the required knowledge and abilities and is required.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates an attitude and behavior that reflects the values and mission of the department and University.
  • Serves as a member of the dedicated Facilities Project Team dedicated to supporting projects and deferred maintenance.
  • Performs skilled carpentry work in support of assigned projects and deferred maintenance orders.
  • Remodels and repairs cabinets, counters, shelves, tables and miscellaneous furniture.
  • Replaces and repairs door closures and locks.
  • Alters and repairs a variety of building structures such as walls, partitions, doorways, window frames, stairs and roofs.
  • Installs window glass and screens; applies wall and floor covering materials; installs ceramic and other types of tile.
  • Refinishes furniture and paints and stains building interiors and exteriors.
  • Applies safety precaution pertaining to safety regulations and procedures; PPE; lifting procedures; back injury prevention; storage; fire extinguisher training.
  • Participates in trainings, certifications, and other professional development and compliance activities as assigned.
  • Performs other duties as assigned including snow removal, event setup and cleanup, truck loading and unloading.
