Job summary

The Hopkinton Public School System seeks a Director of Facilities to lead maintenance, custodial services, and capital planning across all district buildings and grounds.

You will manage budgets, support school construction projects, and develop long-term capital plans while ensuring safety, cleanliness, and energy efficiency.

Bachelor's in related field; 5+ years supervisory experience; licenses or ability to obtain; strong leadership and budgeting skills required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Facilities Management, Engineering, Building Construction, Architecture, or a related field.
• Minimum of five years of supervisory experience.
• Thorough knowledge of methods, materials, tools and equipment used in building and grounds care.
• Skills with spreadsheet, word processing, calendar/scheduling tools, BMS, facilities use, work order, and maintenance/performance management software.
• Demonstrated leadership, planning, management, organization and budget development and management.
• Knowledge of municipal construction and procurement (M.G.L. 7, 30, 30B, 149).
• Licenses/certifications to oversee district facilities operations (e.g., MCPPO, Construction License, OSHA 10, Pesticide, Hoisting, EPA, etc.).
• Alternatives to qualifications considered and aligned with policy.

Responsibilities

• Plan, develop and budget operation and maintenance for all district facilities.
• Collaborate with district and town leadership on current and future school construction projects.
• Plan and advocate capital projects via the 10-year capital plan with stakeholder input.
• Inspect district facilities to ensure high standards of workmanship, safety and security.
• Create performance standards for custodians and maintenance staff; provide regular status reports.
• Oversee procurement and inventory control for custodial/maintenance supplies.
• Manage building management systems and oversee maintenance operations.
• Support energy reduction and sustainability objectives.
