The role requires managing projects, mentoring a team, and applying knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and building codes. Strong leadership and communication are essential for success in Sitka's public facilities.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Associate degree in construction, management, engineering, or related field preferred.
• Formal training, certification, or licensure in HVAC, carpentry, plumbing, electrical, or related building trades.
• Five years of maintenance/repair experience in buildings and systems.
• One year of lead experience preferred or equivalent outside Sitka.
• Equivalent combinations of experience and education welcomed.

Responsibilities

• Supervise Building Maintenance Workers and others performing maintenance tasks.
• Oversee preventative and reactive maintenance of designated building systems to ensure safety and comfort.
• Lead staff, mentor employees, and manage projects within department policies and budgets.
• Maintain safety and regulatory compliance and communicate with staff and the public.
