Job summary

Prince George’s County Government is seeking a Stationary Engineer I/II within the Facilities Operation and Management Division. The position focuses on inspection, maintenance, and operation of heating, cooling, and ventilation systems across county buildings, with potential work in the correctional facility.

Upon completing probation and obtaining a Second Class Stationary Engineer License, there may be opportunities for promotion to II level.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Six (6) months of maintenance, repair, installation of heating, cooling, and ventilation systems.
• Must possess and maintain a Third (3rd) Class Stationary Engineer’s License as established by the Maryland Department of Licensing and Regulation, Board of Examining Engineers.
• Must possess and maintain a valid Class C driver’s license with no more than six (6) points.

Responsibilities

• Plans, schedules, and leads subordinates in the maintaining and performing preventive maintenance on mechanical and non-mechanical systems.
• Operate building environmental systems, i.e., heating/cooling/ventilation systems, plumbing, fixtures, electrical systems, and non-mechanical items.
• Review and complete documentation associated with daily performance.
• Assist shop and contract personnel with performing work at assigned buildings.
• Observes all administrative rules and regulations, safety practices and measures, and complies with security regulations at all times.
• Maintains knowledge of safety rules and regulations in MOSH and OSHA standards.
• Demonstrates good knowledge of latest equipment and replacement parts.
• Willingly and cooperatively performs tasks within the general category and responsibility level.
