Job summary

San Diego State University is seeking a Facilities Control Specialist to maintain and optimize building automation systems and HVAC infrastructure on campus in San Diego, CA.

You will install, troubleshoot, and calibrate digitally controlled systems, design control strategies, and lead department training on troubleshooting and repair. The role requires hands-on capability, a proactive approach, and a commitment to safety and reliability.

Qualifications

• Thorough understanding of electric, electronic, pneumatic and digitally controlled BAS, HVAC and controls.
• Diagnose, repair and maintain large HVAC and water treatment systems.
• Design, modify and implement programs to achieve facilities goals.
• Ability to troubleshoot remotely and on-site; respond to emergencies.
• Knowledge of building automation protocols and certifications is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, adjust, and repair building automation systems (electric, electronic, pneumatic, digital).
• Monitor, troubleshoot, design and program system features; respond to problems on-site or remotely.
• Diagnose and repair complex HVAC components using journey-level skills.
• Create and implement building control strategies and programs.
• Perform major-to-minor overhauls and test equipment after service.
