A Facilities Assistant is needed to keep our two locations clean, safe, and organized, while supporting general maintenance tasks and coordinating with outside vendors. The role involves daily cleaning, safety procedures, and assisting with maintenance projects.

Qualifications

• Prior janitorial, custodial, or related experience preferred.
• Ability to operate cleaning equipment safely and use cleaning products.
• Dependable, organized, and able to work independently.
• Willingness to learn and assist with varying cleaning and maintenance tasks.
• Basic ability to use electronic devices, databases, and internet-based applications.
• Reliable transportation to and from work.
• Commitment to maintaining a safe, clean, welcoming environment.
• Ability to meet physical requirements including standing, walking, bending, kneeling, reaching, and pushing/pulling equipment.
• Ability to pass a criminal background check and drug/alcohol screening after a conditional job offer.

Responsibilities

• Sweep, mop, scrub, and vacuum offices, hallways, breakrooms, meeting rooms, and work areas.
• Clean and disinfect surfaces, windows, doors, restrooms, and common areas.
• Empty waste and recycling and ensure proper disposal of materials.
• Restock soap, hand sanitizer, paper towels, toilet paper, and other supplies.
• Monitor cleaning supplies and help receive, stock, and distribute supplies between locations.
• Assist with maintaining outdoor areas and picking up debris.
• Move office furniture and equipment within and between buildings as needed.
• Assist with general maintenance projects at both Merrick locations.
• Communicate with outside vendors as needed.
• Safely use cleaning products and equipment and follow safety procedures.
