Description

POSITION TITLE: Facilities Assistant (30 Hours)

PROGRAM: Administration

GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Facilities Technician is responsible to handle assigned facility related matters including but not limited to security, safety, maintenance and repair, coordination of outside maintenance and repair vendors, vehicle maintenance and compliance with all OSHA and state licensure and accreditation requirements.

SUPERVISION: Supervised by: Director of Facilities (or designee)

EXAMPLES OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Assist in efforts to ensure all buildings and properties including satellite offices and residential programs are safe, secure, clean and presentable by conducting property walk-throughs for immediate correction or scheduled planned work.
  2. Make any necessary repair and/or replacement to ensure continuous upkeep of building structures and contents, per supervisor direction.
  3. Complete assigned ticketed items for all properties including but not limited to interior and exterior painting, basic improvement, basic carpentry, replacement of worn items, to keep properties looking presentable for staff, clients, guests, etc.
  4. Assist with maintenance checks and scheduling of annual/quarterly service work on all systems including furnaces, generators, air conditioners, water heaters, fire extinguishers to ensure good working order and compliance with licensure and accreditation standards.
  5. Participate in health and safety committee meeting as assigned. Participate in facility walk-throughs, fire drills conducted, etc. to ensure proper documentation for audits.
  6. Carry cell phone throughout the day so staff may contact you immediately for any facility related emergencies.
  7. Respond to security related breaches occurring after hours and weekends per the direction of your supervisor.
  8. Assist with the stocking and restocking of all supplies as needed.
  9. Participate as needed with all new or existing office/conference room setups or changes including moving of furniture, bulletin boards, blinds, wall décor, file cabinets, etc. to meet the needs of room/employee/management requests.
  10. Assist with record management including but not limited to moving client records, maintain suitable area for all records rooms and archive area.
  11. Assist with the destruction of old client records by moving files and working with outside shredding company for scheduled destructions.
  12. Assist with snow removal including plowing, shoveling and use of a snow blower.
  13. Assist with maintenance of agency vehicles including bringing in for repairs, dead batteries, emissions and registrations.
  14. Perform all other duties as assigned by supervisor or Agency leadership.

This is a 30 hour position Monday - Friday. Schedule may be flexible between the hours of 11-5 pm or 12-6 pm.

Qualifications

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. independently using proper lifting techniques.
  2. Must be able to stand for extended periods of time.
  3. Working knowledge of facility related equipment including lawn mower, snow blower, leaf blower, power washer, power tools, etc. preferred.
  4. Basic working knowledge and understanding of all areas covering electric, plumbing, heating, HVAC, carpentry, and janitorial preferred.
  5. Must have valid Connecticut driver’s license.
  6. Must be able to withstand heights up to three stories.
  7. Must have the ability to maintain the utmost confidentiality of both agency and client matters.
  8. Must have the ability to maintain a flexible work schedule.
  9. Must have ample computer skills to successfully complete all related job functions.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

High school diploma; business school or college training required. Experience with maintenance management including having a working knowledge of electric, plumbing, electric, carpentry and janitorial preferred. Experience with state and federal standards preferred.

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRATION:

Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation and valid auto insurance.
