THE POSITION: Under general supervision, provides custodial service for assigned areas and buildings; ensuring an attractive, sanitary, and safe environment for students, staff and visitors. Performs a variety of special cleaning operations, performs minor building maintenance work. Provides back-up coverage for deliveries and minor shipping and receiving duties. Ensures that assignments are completed in a safe, proper and timely manner. This job reports to Assigned Administrator.
LOCATION: 313 W. Winton Ave. Hayward, CA 94544
TYPICAL DUTIES: Sweeps, mops, scrubs, dust, and vacuums hallways, stairs, office space, and restrooms. Empties trash containers and recycle materials from the facility. Cleans restrooms and stock supplies to meet acceptable sanitary standards. Operates scrubbers, buffers, carpet cleaners, and other equipment. Cleans ceilings, walls, window blinds. Refills lavatory supply dispensers; replace light bulbs and tubes; requisition supplies. Assists in moving and arranging furniture in offices and meeting rooms. Performs minor building repairs using hand tools. Maintains equipment used in the course of work. Notifies management concerning need for major repairs or additions to lighting, heating, and ventilating equipment. Responds to inquiries from staff, students, parents, and/or visitors for the purpose of providing information, taking appropriate action and/or directing to appropriate personnel for resolution. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Experience: One year of custodian or equivalent experience preferred. Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
