JOB SUMMARY To provide custodial work required for the routine cleaning and upkeep of the buildings and grounds to ensure a safe and healthy environment for students, staff and the community

JOB TITLE: Custodian

REPORTS TO: Assistant Director of Facilities and Building Principal

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Keep building and premises, including sidewalks, driveways, and play areas neat and clean. Shovel and/or sand walks, driveways, parking areas, and steps as appropriate. Check daily to insure that all fire exit doors and panic bolts are working properly during the hours of building occupancy and thereafter. Help to implement school safety protections by ensuring that the designated entrances and exits to the facilities are monitored and regulated. Sweep classrooms daily and dust furniture; clean sinks; clean and dust other fixtures as necessary. Clean hallways and corridors after school each day, and during the day when necessary. Scrub, wash down, and disinfect toilet floors daily, and clean all sanitary fixtures and drinking fountains daily and more frequently when appropriate. Wash all windows on both the inside and outside at least twice each year, and more frequently if necessary. Keep the grounds free from rubbish. Empty trash cans into dumpster and replace liners. Keep all floors in a clean, sanitary, and attractive condition and in a good state of preservation. Use a buffer and mop and wax floors to maintain this condition.
