Job description

New Theater Hollywood seeks a Facilities and Operations Manager beginning mid-October 2026.

This is a seasonal, on-site role, running October through July, averaging 18 hours per week at our 49-seat black box theater on Santa Monica Blvd in Hollywood, Los Angeles.

We are looking for someone who is excited about performance, has a proactive and hands-on attitude, and has experience working at a small venue (theater, film, or art-related preferred). We’re a small team, and you will work closely with the artistic directors, artists, producer, and front-of-house staff to ensure that operations run smoothly. That means moving between tasks as needed – mopping the floor, helping set lights, settling ticket disputes, or whatever else a rehearsal or show calls for.

What you’ll do:
  • Oversee rehearsals and prep for shows. Open the theater, welcome artists and performers, make sure the green room and stage are clean and prepared, run errands the day of the show, and assist artists as needed.
  • Schedule staff. Coordinate tech and front-of-house staff for each performance.
  • Manage ticketing. Answer audience questions, resolve issues, and prepare guest lists.
  • Facilitate rentals. Maintain rental listings, communicate with renters, meet for site visits, prepare the space for rental, inspect and reset the space after each rental. The theater is rented out about 1-2 times per month.
  • Maintain the space. Restock supplies, handle minor repairs, and coordinate with vendors.
  • Solve problems as needed. Things come up last minute at the theater and we are looking for someone who can be flexible and calm under pressure.

There is no fixed weekly schedule for this position, but evening and weekend availability is required. We program consecutive limited runs, averaging about 8 performances per month. Most shows start at 8pm. Rehearsal schedules vary by production, and more work will be required during show weeks.

Strong candidates will have:
  • Experience working at a venue (theater, film, or art-related preferred)
  • A car, a valid driver’s license, and a short commute to Hollywood
  • Knowledge of, and curiosity about, theater terms, equipment, and processes
  • Familiarity with contemporary culture beyond theater. Many of our artists are writers, visual artists, and filmmakers who are new to the stage.
  • Some experience with online ticketing systems
  • The ability to lift and move equipment and set pieces

Compensation: $1,900 per month, October through July. As a young organization, we are looking for someone who wants to grow with us and help improve the day-to-day systems at the theater, and we hope to renew the role beyond this first year. This is a grant-funded position and its continuation depends on funding.

New Theater Hollywood is an equal opportunity employer.
