Job summary

Balco, Inc. is seeking an experienced welder to join our Kansas manufacturing team. The role focuses on welding components, fabricating pieces to specifications, and ensuring quality through careful inspection and documentation.

You will operate hand and power tools, prepare surfaces, and maintain a clean, safe work area in a fast-paced environment. Ideal candidates have at least 2 years of welding experience, proficiency with reading prints, and a solid understanding of safety practices.

Qualifications

• Proficient in welding and fabrication techniques.
• Able to read and interpret prints/blueprints.
• Knowledge of safety standards for welding and use of protective gear.
• High attention to detail in workmanship and inspection.
• Ability to read technical documentation and drawings.
• Effective written and verbal communication.

Responsibilities

• Weld components according to specifications.
• Fabricate pieces to meet product specifications and blueprints.
• Set up and operate hand and power tools.
• Prepare material surfaces for welding, ensuring cleanliness.
• Verify materials are supplied in proper quantities and lengths.
• Check that materials meet quality standards and documentation is complete.
• Document inspection and rework of non-conforming materials.
• Initiate preventative and corrective actions for process problems.
• Perform fabrication duties as required.
• Maintain a clean and safe work area.
• Perform additional duties as directed by supervisor or management.

Job Responsibilities

• Proficiently weld components according to specifications.
• Fabricate pieces, ensuring conformance with product specifications and blueprints.
• Set up and operate hand and power tools.
• Prepare all material surfaces to be welded, ensuring that there is no foreign matter.
• Verify that materials are supplied in proper quantities and proper lengths.
• Check materials to ensure that quality standards are met and maintained.
• Accurately document the inspection and rework of non-conforming or rejected material using the appropriate log.
• Initiate preventative and corrective actions for problems with product or processes.
• Perform Fabrication duties
• Maintain a clean work area.
• Any other assignments, duties or responsibilities as directed by the Supervisor and Executive Management.

Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of fabrication and welding techniques and tools.
• Able to read and interpret prints.
• Knowledge of relative safety standards for welding and willingness to use protective clothing (Face Shields, Gloves Etc.)
• High level of attention to detail.
• Ability to read technical documentation and drawings including details and breakouts.
• Ability to communicate effectively and professionally verbally and in writing.

Experience

• 2 or more years of experience as a welder, preferably in welding aluminum.
• Experience using power and hand tools.

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent required.

Other Requirements

• Physical- This position operates in a manufacturing environment. This role routinely uses welding, fabrication and power tools.
• Ability to stand for a 10-hour shift.
