Job summary

EK Machine in Wisconsin is seeking an assembler to assist the fabrication department with essential duties such as loading, unloading, drilling, aligning, bolting, and testing fabricated parts.

Responsibilities include following specifications, trimming burrs, applying rust preventative, maintaining a clean work area, and lifting up to 75–80 pounds; a high school diploma or GED and minimal related experience are required.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • 1–3 months related experience or training.
  • Ability to read and understand simple instructions and manuals.
  • Physical ability to lift up to 75–80 pounds.

Responsibilities

  • Assist machine operators with fabrication duties.
  • Unload materials and identify loads with job numbers.
  • Load fabricated parts into tumblers and remove after processing.
  • Apply rust preventative to parts when needed.
  • Remove burrs or excess metal from parts.
  • Follow specifications to plan assembly procedures.
  • Drill, tap, or ream holes; align and fasten components.
  • Test or assist in testing finished products.
  • Keep the work area clean and organized.

Job description

Assists the fabrication department by performing the following duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Assists other machine operators with fabrication duties.
  • Unloads materials, parts, or products onto or from lasers, pallets, skids, conveyors, or trucks and identifies each load with the job number.
  • Loads fabricated parts into tumbler and removes them after a designated time period.
  • Applies rust preventative to fabricated parts when necessary.
  • Removes burrs or excess metal from fabricated parts.
  • Plans assembly procedures following specifications.
  • Drills, taps, or reams holes.
  • Aligns components, and bolts, screws, or rivets them together.
  • Tests or assists in testing operation of completed product.
  • Cleans and organizes work area.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

High School Diploma or GED; one to three months related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions and memos, as well as operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information one-on-one to other employees of the organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
