Responsibilities

• Interpret drawings, and specifications to determine fabrication requirements.
• Fabricate and weld metal components such as door frames, hinges, thresholds, and other related structures.
• Measure and cut metal using various tools and equipment, ensuring accuracy and adherence to specifications.
• Operate MIG welders to join metal pieces together.
• Conduct quality inspections of fabricated components to ensure they meet company standards and customer requirements.
• Maintain equipment and tools in good working condition, performing regular maintenance and repairs as needed.
• Participate in training programs and stay updated on industry trends and advancements in fabrication and welding techniques.
• Collaborate with team members to meet production schedules and deadlines.
• Communicate effectively with supervisors, coworkers, and other departments to coordinate workflow and address any issues or concerns.
• Follow safety protocols and guidelines to maintain a safe work environment.

Required Skills/Abilities:

Education and Experience:

• High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical training or certification in welding and fabrication is preferred.


• Proven experience as a welder/fabricator in the commercial door and frame industry or a related field.

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds independently on a repetitive basis throughout the shift and assist with team lifts of items weighing up to 100 pounds.


• Must be able to stand, walk, bend, and climb for extended periods of time.


• Must be able to safely perform job duties in environments where exposure to welding fumes, smoke, and airborne particles is present, with or without reasonable accommodation.


• Frequent exposure to heat, sparks, fumes, and airborne particles; appropriate PPE must be worn at all times.


• Required to wear steel-toe boots, safety glasses, ear plugs, and other personal protective equipment (PPE) as specified.


• Required to wear a welding helmet, welding gloves and other PPE for extended periods.


• Must be able to safely maneuver pallets and crates using equipment such as forklifts and pallet jacks.


• Must adhere to all safety protocols and always demonstrate a commitment to a safe working environment.
