Job summary

Wastequip in Winamac, Indiana, is seeking an experienced fabrication operator to assist in producing steel parts for waste-handling equipment. The role involves setting up presses and shears, reading blueprints, and laying out cut and bend lines while coordinating with the team on safety and quality standards.

You will work in a fast-paced environment, lift up to 50 lbs, and operate or assist with forklift as needed. Competitive benefits and stable hours are offered.

Qualifications

• 1+ years prior production experience.
• Prior experience operating a Press Brake and/or Shear and set up experience a plus.
• Understanding of basic CNC controls.
• Ability to read blue prints and measuring tape.
• Basic math and problem solving skills.
• Experience in a fast paced production environment a plus.
• Experience operating a forklift a plus.

Responsibilities

• Fabricate steel and other metal parts per work orders and blueprints.
• Position clamps, stops, and guides to set length and angle of cut.
• Turn handwheels to adjust rake and blade pressure.
• Lift and position workpieces using hoist/crane to machine bed.
• Lay out cutting lines on metal when shearing; bending lines when bending.
• Inspect finished work for dimensions and quality.
• Clean work area at shift end and perform related duties as assigned.
