Job summary

Greiner Industries is seeking a skilled Fabricator/Fitter with 2+ years of experience in structural and sheet metal fabrication and welding. This role involves reading blueprints, laying out and assembling structural components, and performing diverse welding tasks.

Dynamic shifts, a $2,500 sign-on bonus, and a 15% shift premium on 2nd/3rd shifts are offered. The position requires use of fabrication equipment, blueprints, and measurement tools, with weekly pay and Mount Joy, PA location.

Qualifications

• At least 2 years in structural and sheet metal fabrication/welding.
• Able to read blueprints and shop drawings.
• Experience with heavy welding and tubing.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, weld symbols, shop sketches, and work orders.
• Lay out, fit, position, align, and assemble structural steel components and fabricated products.
• Perform FCAW, GMAW, SMAW, and other approved welding processes per procedures.
• Complete tack welding, finish welding, multi-pass welding, in-position welding, and uphill welding as required.
• Fabricate and weld columns, beams, girders, tanks, ducts, platforms, stairs, railings, and other steel structures.
• Operate fabrication equipment (shears, brake presses, plate rolls, drill presses, ironworkers, grinders, flame-cutting).

Duties & Responsibilities

• Lay out, fit, position, align, and assemble structural steel components, plate assemblies, and fabricated products.
• Perform FCAW, GMAW, SMAW, and other approved welding processes in accordance with applicable welding procedures.
• Complete tack welding, finish welding, multi-pass welding, in-position welding, and uphill welding as required.
• Fabricate and weld columns, beams, girders, trusses, tanks, hoppers, ductwork, platforms, stairs, railings, and other steel structures.
• Operate fabrication equipment including shears, brake presses, plate rolls, drill presses, ironworkers, grinders, and flame-cutting equipment.
• Prepare metal surfaces by cleaning, grinding, beveling, fitting, and preheating materials when required.
• Verify dimensions, fit-up, and tolerances using measuring tapes, squares, levels, gauges, calipers, and other precision measuring instruments.
• Use jigs, templates, fixtures, clamps, wedges, and alignment devices to ensure accurate assembly and fabrication.
• Inspect welds for quality, penetration, appearance, and compliance with customer specifications and quality standards.
• Grind, chip, gouge, buff, and finish welds to required project specifications.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
