Job summary

Life Fitness / Hammer Strength is seeking a skilled bending operator to set up and run bending equipment, producing precise metal tubes and related parts from drawings or samples. You will verify tolerances, select tools, and document processes while maintaining safety and quality standards.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of bending equipment and problem solving for adjustments.
• Ability to read tape measures, calipers, protractors and blueprints.
• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Ability to communicate in English (speaking, reading, writing).
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced team environment.
• Manufacturing experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Set up, adjust and operate bending machines and equipment to form metal tubes and related parts per specifications.
• Fabricate directly from drawings or samples with minimal supervision.
• Select layouts, templates, tools, dies and plane gauge requirements.
• Check bent parts against drawings and tolerances using measurement tools.
• Complete paperwork accurately and on time; communicate with other departments.

Job description

Job Purpose

Perform all functions of steel tube bending ensuring safety, quality, and productivity.

Essential Job Functions

• Set up, adjust and operate bending machine and equipment to bend metal structural tube, rods, bars, angles, pipe, channels, extrusions, etc. to specifications.
• Fabricate directly from drawings, samples, or instructions without supervision.
• Select all layouts, templates, or check fixtures.
• Develop layouts from drawings, samples or instructions.
• Select all tools, dies, and plane gauge requirements.
• Check bent parts to drawing specification and tolerance using proper measurement and inspection equipment.
• Identify, properly tag and remove non-conforming materials.
• Complete all required paperwork in a correct and timely manner.
• Perform first article runs and communicate recommendations as appropriate.
• Communicate with other departments as necessary.
• Operate hoist, cart caddy and manual pallet jack.

Non-essential Job Functions

• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Lift up to 50lbs.
• Walk, stand, bend, twist/turn, reach overhead and grasp tools as necessary.

Your base wage will be between $21.25 - $26.13 per hour and includes eligibility for overtime. The actual wage offer will be based on qualifications, experience, location, and other relevant factors. You'll have the opportunity to participate in the Production Bonus Plan, which provides opportunities to earn additional compensation based on performance metrics. Bonus eligibility is subject to meeting certain production goals and other criteria as outlined.
