Job summary

Hanger, Inc. in Orlando, FL, is seeking a Fabrication Technician to fabricate and repair orthotic and prosthetic devices, ensuring fit, function, cosmetics and workmanship.

You will work with a team, train peers, manage inventory, and maintain a safe, organized lab while adhering to OSHA and HIPAA training and company policies. A diploma or technical degree in O&P is required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED with 1 year of fabrication/tool experience or 2 years in O&P environments.
• Technical degree in Orthotics & Prosthetics from an accredited school.
• Strong hand skills to fabricate and repair devices to specification.

Responsibilities

• Perform fabrication and repair of orthotic and/or prosthetic devices, according to Company standards.
• Occasionally train Associate Fabricators and peers.
• Occasionally act as informal team lead within the workstream.
• Assist with ordering, receiving and inventory tasks as assigned.
• Work on three–four device types within a general Orthotic or Prosthetic workstream.
• Maintain 5S and a safe, clean, orderly work environment.
• Adhere to OSHA and HIPAA training and company policies.

The Fabrication Technician fabricates the orthoses and prostheses to provide maximum fit, function, cosmetics and workmanship. The Fabrication Technician is expected to keep abreast of all new fabricating techniques and must be familiar with the properties of pertinent materials and must be skilled in the use of appropriate equipment.

Your Impact

• Perform fabrication and repair of orthotic and/or prosthetic devices, according to Company quality and quantity standards.
• Occasionally (Several times a week) trains Associate Fabricators and peers
• Occasionally (Several times a week) acts as an informal team lead within their workstream.
• May Assist or Perform ordering and receiving and other inventory tasks as assigned.
• Works on Three – Four device types within a general Orthotic or Prosthetic workstream.
• Maintain 5s to ensure for a safe, clean and orderly work environment.
• Adhere to all safety regulations and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) requirements.
• Adhere to all HIPPA and other regulatory compliance training issued by Hanger, Inc.

Minimum Qualifications

Experience and Education:

• High School Diploma or GED, and 1 years’ experience working within environments that include: machinery, tools, wood working, design, fabrication, componentry, etc. –OR-
• Without high school diploma/GED, 2 years’ experience working within O&P environments that include: machinery, tools, design, fabrication, componentry, etc. OR
• A technical degree in Orthotics & Prosthetics from an accredited school.

• Knowledge and hand skills needed to fabricate and repair prostheses (artificial limbs) and orthoses (orthopedic braces) according to specifications.
• Applies acquired job skills and company policies and procedures to complete assigned tasks.
