Job summary

Hanger, Inc. is seeking a Fabricator to manufacture orthoses and prostheses, ensuring optimum fit, function and cosmetic quality. The role requires familiarity with fabrication techniques and materials, and hands-on use of relevant equipment.

The Fabrication Technician keeps up with new techniques, adheres to safety regs and HIPAA, and may lead or assist with inventory tasks while supporting a high standard of patient care and collaboration across teams.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED with 1 year of related experience in machinery, tools, woodworking, design or fabrication.
• Or 2 years of O&P environment experience without a diploma/GED, or a technical degree in Orthotics & Prosthetics.
• Familiarity with materials, fabrication techniques and relevant equipment.

Responsibilities

• Perform fabrication and repair of orthotic and/or prosthetic devices according to quality standards.
• Occasionally train Associate Fabricators and peers.
• Occasionally act as informal team lead within the workstream.
• Assist with ordering, receiving and other inventory tasks as assigned.
• Work on three to four device types within a general Orthotic or Prosthetic workstream.
• Maintain 5S and a safe, clean, orderly work environment.
• Adhere to OSHA, HIPAA and related regulatory training.

The Fabrication Technician fabricates the orthoses and prostheses to provide maximum fit, function, cosmetics and workmanship. The Fabrication Technician is expected to keep abreast of all new fabricating techniques and must be familiar with the properties of pertinent materials and must be skilled in the use of appropriate equipment.

Your Impact

• Perform fabrication and repair of orthotic and/or prosthetic devices, according to Company quality and quantity standards.
• Occasionally (Several times a week) trains Associate Fabricators and peers
• Occasionally (Several times a week) acts as an informal team lead within their workstream.
• May Assist or Perform ordering and receiving and other inventory tasks as assigned.
• Works on Three - Four device types within a general Orthotic or Prosthetic workstream.
• Maintain 5s to ensure for a safe, clean and orderly work environment.
• Adhere to all safety regulations and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) requirements.
• Adhere to all HIPPA and other regulatory compliance training issued by Hanger, Inc.

Minimum Qualifications

Experience and Education:

• High School Diploma or GED, and 1 years' experience working within environments that include: machinery, tools, wood working, design, fabrication, componentry, etc. -OR-
• Without high school diploma/GED, 2 years' experience working within O&P environments that include: machinery, tools, design, fabrication, componentry, etc. OR
• A technical degree in Orthotics & Prosthetics from an accredited school.

• Knowledge and hand skills needed to fabricate and repair prostheses (artificial limbs) and orthoses (orthopedic braces) according to specifications.
• Applies acquired job skills and company policies and procedures to complete assigned tasks.
