Job summary

Hanger, Inc. in Orlando seeks a Fabrication Technician to fabricate orthoses and prostheses, ensuring fit, function, cosmetics and workmanship. You will stay current with fabrication techniques and materials, and you will use the appropriate equipment.

The role also involves performing fabrication and repair, training peers, and supporting inventory tasks, while maintaining a safe, clean work environment and collaborating with a dedicated team.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED with 1 year of relevant experience, or
• 2 years in O&P environments without diploma/GED, or
• A technical degree in Orthotics & Prosthetics from an accredited school.

Responsibilities

• Fabricate and repair orthotic and/or prosthetic devices per quality standards.
• Train Associate Fabricators and peers several times per week.
• Occasionally act as informal team lead within the workstream.
• Assist with ordering, receiving, and other inventory tasks as assigned.
• Work on 3–4 device types within a general Orthotic or Prosthetic workstream.
• Maintain 5S for a safe, clean, and orderly workspace.
• Adhere to OSHA and other regulatory trainings and HIPAA requirements.

The Fabrication Technician fabricates the orthoses and prostheses to provide maximum fit, function, cosmetics and workmanship. The Fabrication Technician is expected to keep abreast of all new fabricating techniques and must be familiar with the properties of pertinent materials and must be skilled in the use of appropriate equipment.

Your Impact

• Perform fabrication and repair of orthotic and/or prosthetic devices, according to Company quality and quantity standards.
• Occasionally (Several times a week) trains Associate Fabricators and peers
• Occasionally (Several times a week) acts as an informal team lead within their workstream.
• May Assist or Perform ordering and receiving and other inventory tasks as assigned.
• Works on Three - Four device types within a general Orthotic or Prosthetic workstream.
• Maintain 5s to ensure for a safe, clean and orderly work environment.
• Adhere to all safety regulations and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) requirements.
• Adhere to all HIPPA and other regulatory compliance training issued by Hanger, Inc.

Minimum Qualifications

Experience and Education:

• High School Diploma or GED, and 1 years' experience working within environments that include: machinery, tools, wood working, design, fabrication, componentry, etc. -OR-
• Without high school diploma/GED, 2 years' experience working within O&P environments that include: machinery, tools, design, fabrication, componentry, etc. OR
• A technical degree in Orthotics & Prosthetics from an accredited school.

• Knowledge and hand skills needed to fabricate and repair prostheses (artificial limbs) and orthoses (orthopedic braces) according to specifications.
