Job summary

Knowles is seeking a Fabricator to bend, shear, cut and form sheet and structural materials per engineering specifications. Must follow safety rules and company policies while meeting production schedules. Overtime may be required.

Responsibilities include reading blueprints, selecting materials, operating CNC laser cutter, punch presses, bending equipment, and maintaining equipment. High school diploma or GED required.

Job description

The Fabricator will be responsible for bending, shearing, cutting and otherwise forming sheet and structural materials in accordance with engineering and manufacturing specifications to provide a completed assembly, within a specified allotted time, which meets all drawing specifications. Shift hours 7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. (plus overtime as required)

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The duties and responsibilities of the Fabricator include, but are not limited to the following:

• Follow all safety rules, company policies, and procedures.
• Read and understand a work-order packet and other related documentation to determine what work needs to be done and the appropriate processes to be used.
• Read and understand blueprints and Engineering drawings.
• Obtain correct material identified in the work order packet.
• Communicate with production supervisor regarding any non‑conformances in shop materials, instructions, or other irregularities. Inform production supervisor on completion of tasks assigned, including applicable quality checks.
• Successfully operates a variety of equipment, including CNC laser cutter, shear, punch presses, bending equipment/brake press, and overhead crane, to fabricate parts required for tooling fixtures for production.
• Utilizing shop documentation, BOM’s, tooling, fixtures, and jigs (as required), selecting the proper material and fabricate a variety of parts to meet production schedules.
• Perform daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance on machines as required in order to keep machinery and equipment functioning properly and to minimize breakdowns.
• Unload steel truck, load materials, and wrap on pallet.
• Able to become forklift certified as well as pass crane/rigging training.
• Keep work area neat and clean.
• Complete necessary paperwork.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

JOB PREREQUISITES:

• 0-2 years of experience or equivalent training in fabrication processes.
• Ability to read and comprehend instructions and understand manufacturing documents.
• Must have good math skills and be able to read/use a ruler, tape measure, calipers, and micrometers.
• Ability to define basic/routine problems, evaluate and establish facts and seek solutions to problems.

PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Full body movement
• Ability to lift/move, carry, push and/or pull items weighing up to 50 lbs.
• Be able to stand for lengthy periods of time (5+ hours a day).
• Must be able to work in a noisy environment.
• Exceptionally good eyesight
• Constant alertness

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

• High school diploma or GED is required.
