Job description

Summary/Objective: The Stone Polisher at Allied Stone plays a crucial role in our manufacturing process, by manually shaping and polishing finished pieces including complex fabricating work such as lamination. They are responsible for setting up and fine-tuning hand tooling, conducting quality assessments on polished stone products, and ensuring the overall quality and efficiency of the polishing process. This role requires meticulous attention to detail, adherence to safety protocols, and effective communication with supervisors and team members to optimize production processes and maintain high standards of craftsmanship.

Essential Functions:

  • Operate and oversee stone polishing hand tools ( i.e. Grinder) with precision and efficiency.
  • Set up and fine-tune machine settings according to product specifications.
  • Conduct regular quality assessments on polished stone products.
  • Identify and address any defects or irregularities in the polishing process.
  • Load raw materials into the polishing machine and unload finished polished stone products.
  • Follow established material handling procedures to prevent damage or waste.
  • Perform routine maintenance on machinery to ensure optimal performance.
  • Promptly report any equipment malfunctions or maintenance requirements.
  • Adhere strictly to all safety protocols and guidelines.
  • Maintain accurate records and logs of production activities.
  • Report daily production output and any challenges encountered during the shift.
  • Collaborate effectively with supervisors, machine operators, and maintenance staff to optimize production processes.
  • Communicate proactively to ensure a seamless workflow and address any production-related challenges.
Essential Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA):
Knowledge:
  • Proficiency in the operation and operator-level maintenance of manufacturing machinery.
  • Understanding of safety protocols and best practices for machinery operation in a manufacturing environment.
Skills:

  • Troubleshooting skills for identifying and addressing machine issues promptly.
  • Knowledge of quality control processes in a manufacturing setting.

Work Environment:

Required Education and Experience:
  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
  • Technical or vocational training in machine operation or a related field.
  • Proven experience as a machine operator, preferably in stone fabrication or a similar manufacturing environment.
  • Technical understanding of Omega stone fabrication machines and related equipment.
Preferred Education and Experience:
  • Completion of trade or technical school in machine operation or a related field.
  • Previous experience in stone manufacturing.
