Job summary

Caterpillar Inc. in Sanford, NC is seeking a 1st Fabrications Production Manager to lead an assigned machine cell across all shifts. You will supervise hourly and salaried staff, drive safety, quality, and cost targets, and coordinate with maintenance and logistics to keep production moving.

The role demands strong leadership, Lean/CPS experience, and solid planning skills to meet schedules, prioritize work, and continuously improve processes on the shop floor.

Qualifications

• Experience with performance management techniques to develop and improve team performance.
• Strong communication skills across levels and functions.
• Proven problem-solving abilities in manufacturing environments.
• Ability to plan and organize tasks and resources efficiently.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and improve shop floor safety and maintain a clean production environment.
• Ensure fixtures, tooling and methods are provided to meet production needs.
• Meet schedules and production requirements.
• Determine priorities and schedule the sequence of jobs.
• Determine overtime needs and react to resource shortages.
• Produce products to meet quality standards while controlling costs.
• Ensure timely procurement and distribution of parts and materials.
• Implement Lean, 5S, Six Sigma initiatives and other corporate programs.
• Identify training needs and ensure workforce development.
