You will inspect, diagnose, repair, and preventive-maintain machines; lay out and weld metal structures; handle power tools and measuring instruments; and maintain accurate maintenance records while following safety protocols.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required; technical or trade training preferred.
  • 1+ years’ proven experience in industrial maintenance, machinery repair, metal fabrication, welding, or related trades.
  • Hands-on proficiency across mechanical, electrical, carpentry, and fabrication disciplines.
  • Basic computer proficiency preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to enforce quality and safety standards consistently.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect, diagnose, and maintain mechanical equipment, machinery, and production systems to prevent downtime.
  • Perform routine scheduled and emergency maintenance on stationary and mobile plant equipment.
  • Troubleshoot, repair, or replace broken, worn, or malfunctioning mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic components.
  • Execute a proactive preventive maintenance program on a regular basis to optimize machinery performance.
  • Layout, measure, cut, weld, and fabricate metal, plastic, or composite structures and replacement components.
  • Execute general facility repair work including non-complex electrical system troubleshooting and maintenance.
  • Utilize power tools, welding units, precision measuring instruments, and hand tools safely.
  • Maintain detailed records of all daily maintenance activities, inspections, and parts usage.
  • Prioritize daily maintenance requests to meet deadlines.
  • Follow Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) protocols and OSHA regulations; wear PPE.

About Alumicore

Alumicore is a Pittsburgh, PA based company in the aluminum melting operations industry. We work alongside our customers to provide innovative solutions to the aerospace, beverage can, automotive, and high-end specialty markets. The Fabrication Worker will perform general facility maintenance, custom metal/materials fabrication, basic carpentry, electrical upkeep, and complex mechanical repairs across stationary and mobile plant equipment. This position requires a high level of attention to detail and the ability to prioritize tasks in order to meet deadlines.

This is a shift position, with day shit and overnight shift options available, out of our Monessen, PA facility.

Essential Responsibilities:
  1. Inspect, diagnose, and maintain mechanical equipment, machinery, and production systems to prevent operational downtime.
  2. Perform routine scheduled and emergency maintenance on both stationary industrial machinery and mobile facility equipment.
  3. Troubleshoot, repair, or replace broken, worn, or malfunctioning mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic components.
  4. Execute a proactive preventive maintenance (PM) program on a regular basis to optimize machinery performance and extend equipment life cycles.
  5. Layout, measure, cut, weld, and fabricate metal, plastic, or composite structures and replacement components supporting plant operations.
  6. Execute general facility repair work on premises, including custom carpentry projects and non-complex electrical system troubleshooting and maintenance.
  7. Utilize power tools, welding units, precision measuring instruments, and hand tools safely and effectively.
  8. Maintain detailed records of all daily maintenance activities, inspections, work orders, parts inventory usage, and equipment repair histories.
  9. Prioritize daily maintenance requests independently to align with operational deadlines and high-priority facility needs.
  10. Consistently follow all plant safety procedures, Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) protocols, and OSHA regulations to promote a safe and healthy work environment.
  11. Wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times and maintain a clean, organized work area across facility ground.
Education and Experience Requirements:
  1. High school diploma or GED required; technical or trade training preferred.
  2. 1+ years’ proven experience in industrial maintenance, machinery repair, metal fabrication, welding, or related technical trades.
  3. Hands-on proficiency across mechanical, electrical, carpentry, and fabrication disciplines.
  4. Strong mechanical aptitude and diagnostic skills to troubleshoot complex system failures independently.
  5. Basic computer proficiency preferred.
  6. Strong attention to detail with the ability to enforce quality and safety standards consistently.
Working Conditions:
  1. Work in a physically demanding, high-heat, deadline-driven, and production-focused setting.
  2. Working is performed in an industrial manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, moving equipment, heat, dust, materials from operational area, molten metal, and extreme temperature variations.
  3. Regular outside work required with exposure to weather conditions of extreme cold, and extreme heat.
  4. Prolonged standing and walking throughout the shift, and must be comfortable working from ladders, scaffolding, or elevated platforms when required.
  5. Frequent lifting, pushing, and pulling up to 50 lbs. Climbing stairs and working at varying heights as required.
  6. See, hear, talk, and perform tasks requiring manual dexterity and visual acuity; kneel, sit, stand, walk, bend, crouch, stoop, reach, pull, push, and other similar, repetitive tasks requiring physical activity.
  7. Required use of personal protective equipment (PPE) in designated areas.
  8. Willing and able to work overtime when needed.
  9. Valid driver’s license preferred.
