Job summary

Insteel Industries is seeking a Fabrication Shop Lead for the 1st shift (6am-2pm) to guide daily fabrication operations and supervise a small team. The role combines hands‑on bending, welding, machining, and repair work with shop leadership to maintain safety, quality, and productivity.

The ideal candidate balances technical fabrication skills with strong supervision, continuous improvement, and ALARA safety practices in a heavy manufacturing setting.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience operating fabrication shop equipment, including benders, welders, saws, drill presses.
• Minimum 1–2 years of work‑related experience.
• Ability to read blueprints, shop drawings, and production specifications.

Responsibilities

• Lead and direct 2–3 fabrication employees daily.
• Set up and operate bender and other fabrication machinery.
• Perform quality checks to ensure products meet specifications.
• Read build sheets and drawings for setup and operation.
• Prepare for upcoming changeovers on the bender machine.
• Inspect finished products and package per customer specs.
