Job summary

FMW|Fablab in Houston seeks an experienced architectural millwork craftsman to lead our shop team. You will oversee fabrication and installation of corporate millwork across wood, metal, and plastics, ensuring accuracy and on-time delivery.

If not certified, the hired candidate will be set up to obtain OSHA 30. Our schedule is Monday-Thursday 8:00a–5:30p with occasional installs and deadlines.

Qualifications

• Experienced in architectural millwork fabrication and installation.

• Knowledge of wood species and material handling is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead shop team in fabrication and installation of commercial millwork.

Job description

We are a multi-material fabricator specializing in architectural millwork, casework, and furniture for the Houston commercial market. Serving primarily the corporate interiors segment, we provide comprehensive design, engineering, fabrication, and installation services across a diverse range of materials, including wood, metal, and plastics, all while maintaining the highest industry standards for excellence.

We are seeking an experienced architectural millwork craftsman to lead our shop team. The right candidate will be a seasoned veteran in the fabrication and installation of commercial architectural work. If not already certified, the hired candidate will be set up to become OSHA 30.

Preferred Skills

• Fabricate products from raw materials to finished goods
• Read, interpret and fabricate from prescribed professional shot drawings
• Review parts list and determine if all parts are present
• Assemble components, tools and materials
• Collaborate with peers and other departments to maximize productivity and efficiency
• Use common sense and basic math; addition subtraction fraction to decimal conversion
• Follow all company rules policies safety regulations OSHA and quality standards
• Lift raw materials and final products manually or by using hoist
• Provide an exceptional level of attention to detail and focus on the given task
• Keep tools and work area clean and organized
• Complete preventative maintenance
• Check stock weekly to ensure inventory is replenished
• Pick up and deliver raw materials
• Participate in and lead project installations
• Collaborate with metal team
• Be reliable, punctual and detail oriented; 5 minutes late is late
• Knowledgeable of various wood species
• Committed to providing exceptional quality while meeting customer deadlines
• Ability to read and write English
• Accurately read a tape measure and work to standards of 1/32 inch
• Be experienced in and willing to learn proper machine setup breakdown and use in a safe manner

Job Requirements

Our typical working schedule is Monday-Thursday from 8:00a-5:30p. Alternate days/hours do occur for installations and at times when we have an aggressive deadline. Advance notification will be given for these instances.
