Job summary

Collins Aerospace is seeking a Fabrication Operator I to join the Carbon Brake Team in Santa Fe Springs, CA. The role involves loading/unloading carbon preforms, applying resin, and using MES for data entry. Second shift schedule (2:00 PM–10:30 PM) on-site supports a high-precision manufacturing environment in aerospace.

Responsibilities

  • Learn carbon brake fabrication steps for loading/unloading laid-up carbon preforms into hydraulic presses.
  • Apply phenolic resin to carbon fabric as part of the process.
  • Use handheld scanners to track all parts and ensure traceability.
  • Precisely measure using standard measuring tools and scales.
  • Operate MES to enter data at fabrication steps and ensure data integrity.
  • Follow SOPs, work instructions, and part drawings; report safety issues to management.

Collins Aerospace is seeking a Fabrication Operator I to join the Carbon Brake Team in Santa Fe Springs, CA. We create and ship out new carbon for aviation braking systems.

Work Schedule

Second Shift; Monday - Friday, 2:00 PM to 10:30 PM

What You Will Do
  • Learn the steps of the carbon brake fabrication process for loading/unloading laid up carbon composite preforms into hydraulic presses
  • Apply phenolic resin to carbon fabric
  • Use handheld scanners to track all parts
  • Precisely measure using the standard measuring instruments and scales
  • Acquire proficiency in use of MES (Manufacturing Execution System) to enter data at the corresponding steps of the fabrication process
  • Follow steps and procedures of the SOP (Standard Operating Procedure), WI (Work Instructions), and part drawings
  • Communicate potential mechanical or safety issues to your manager and lead
  • Learn to operate Forklift and/or Big Joe to place preforms on pallets
  • Use basic to intermediate computer skills
What You Will Learn
  • You will gain knowledge of all pertinent customer and company specifications including but not limited to international standards relating to the production of carbon‑carbon brake components & company policies.
  • You will Learn how to operate support equipment such as: Forklifts, Hydraulic Press, Power Tools, etc.
  • You will complete a department training program in the time allotted.
Qualifications
  • HS diploma (or equivalent) or in absence of a HS diploma or GED, 2 years of relevant work experience is required
  • Must be a U.S. Person
  • Ability to obtain security clearance.

Salary

The salary range for this role $42,000K/yr to $50,000K/yr.
