Job summary

RTX in West Des Moines, IA is seeking a skilled welder to join our production team. You will perform welding, soldering, and brazing on instrumentation parts, follow drawings, and ensure parts meet specifications using SAP and quality processes.

This position emphasizes PPE, safety, and continuous improvement, with opportunities to advance and learn new welding processes. HS diploma and manufacturing welding experience preferred; overtime may be required.

Qualifications

• Typically requires HS Diploma or GED with 2 years of relevant experience.
• Manufacturing weld experience and ability to read blueprints.
• Ability to use welding equipment and maintain tools in good condition.

What You Will Do

• Understands welding theory.
• Performs welding, soldering, and brazing on difficult production and prototype instrumentation piece parts.
• Welds parts that meet drawing expectations.
• Properly uses shop/hand tools, welding equipment and other equipment required to complete tasks.
• Maintains machine tools, welding equipment, and supplies.
• Maintains knowledge of welding specifications.
• Performs process inspections and audits.
• Proficiently uses computers tools such as SAP.
• Complies with applicable elements of quality systems.
• Ensures attention to quality while meeting production schedules.
• Establishes and preserves documented welding procedures.
• Advise engineering on technical welding aspects of new units and fixtures including setups.
• Participates in continuous improvement and waste minimization efforts.
• Achieves certification on multiple welding processes, equipment, and materials.
• Completes other assembly work as required.
• Exhibits RTX Leadership Behaviors and Values.
• Supports and follows all rules/guidelines/standards set by EHS, Quality and CI functions as set by assigned leader and position.
• Perform other duties as assigned including working extended shifts/overtime as required by the business.
