Sylvan, Inc. seeks an experienced fabrication operations leader to direct the fabrication facility, drive safety, quality, and production efficiency, and coordinate across engineering, project management, procurement, and field teams.

The role focuses on establishing standardized workflows, overseeing QA/QC and Materials & Logistics, and ensuring on-time delivery while adhering to applicable codes and customer requirements.

Qualifications

  • Experience managing fabrication operations involving pressure piping, process piping, structural welding, skid fabrication, or industrial manufacturing.
  • Working knowledge of applicable fabrication, welding, inspection, and quality standards, including ASME, AWS, API, ASNT, NBIC, and customer-specific quality requirements.
  • Overseeing quality management systems, welding procedures (WPS), procedure qualification records (PQR), welder performance qualifications (WPQ), material traceability, non-destructive examination (NDE), inspection documentation, and turnover packages.
  • Supporting fabrication for data centers, industrial facilities, power generation, Department of Energy (DOE), semiconductor, pharmaceutical, or other highly regulated environments.
  • Establishing or improving fabrication shop operations, production workflows, quality systems, and operational standards.
  • Familiarity with BIM/VDC-to-fabrication workflows, spool management, work packaging, digital fabrication systems, and fabrication automation technologies.
  • Supporting facility expansion, capital investment planning, equipment deployment, and long-term fabrication growth strategies

Responsibilities

  • Lead the overall operation and development of the fabrication facility.
  • Establish and maintain standardized fabrication workflows, procedures, and production expectations.
  • Oversee the Shop Manager, Fabrication Coordinator, QA/QC function, and Materials & Logistics function.
  • Ensure fabrication work is performed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with applicable codes, specifications, and customer requirements.
  • Coordinate with project management, BIM/VDC, procurement, field leadership, and quality personnel to ensure work packages are released, fabricated, inspected, documented, and delivered on schedule.
  • Support ASME-related fabrication requirements, including weld procedures, qualified personnel, documentation, traceability, inspection, and turnover packages.
  • Monitor production performance, manpower needs, shop capacity, equipment needs, and schedule commitments.
  • Drive continuous improvement in shop layout, material flow, software usage, reporting, documentation, and fabrication efficiency.
  • Support the implementation and use of fabrication tracking systems, production reporting tools, and other software platforms.
  • Work with QA/QC to ensure quality standards, audits, inspection records, traceability, and customer documentation are properly maintained.
  • Support the development of staffing plans, training needs, equipment needs, and future expansion plans for the facility.
  • Communicate regularly with company leadership regarding shop performance, capacity, risks, needs, and opportunities
