Job summary

The Shyft Group, Inc. in Charlotte, MI is seeking a dependable Machine Operator to tend automated fabricating equipment, including saws, brakes and presses, to shape metal components.

You will read specifications, adjust machines, monitor quality, and perform basic maintenance. This hourly, non-exempt position offers competitive pay and benefits, with opportunities to grow in a metal fabrication environment.

Qualifications

• Read job specifications and blueprints to determine machine adjustments and material requirements.
• Set stops and guides to specified length as indicated.
• Position work pieces against stops or align layout marks with die or blade.
• Push buttons or depress pedals to activate machines.
• Observes machine operation to detect work piece defects and machine malfunction.
• Measure work piece dimensions with necessary tools.
• Remove burrs, sharp edges, rust and scale from work pieces.
• Perform minor machine maintenance.
