Job summary

GHX Industrial, a SunSource company, is seeking a skilled fabrication lead in Houston, TX. You will supervise and train personnel producing pipe and metal hose assemblies, ensuring on-time delivery and adherence to safety standards.

The role requires reading blueprints, operating pipe saws, benders, welders, threading machines, presses, and testing rigs, and performing GTAW/GMAW welding with precision. You’ll coordinate with sales, quality, and shipping to resolve issues and improve processes.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; vocational training preferred.
• 3+ years’ experience in pipe and metal hose fabrication.
• 1+ year in a lead or supervisory role preferred.
• Proficient in fabrication equipment: pipe saws, benders, welding machines, threading machines, presses, hose crimpers.
• Experience with GTAW (TIG) and GMAW (MIG) welding; ensure high-quality joints.
• Able to read blueprints, weld symbols, and technical drawings.
• Detail-oriented, able to manage multiple priorities; safety-focused.
• Capable of lifting up to 50 pounds and performing physical tasks; overtime/flexible hours.

Responsibilities

• Lead, train and motivate fabrication personnel producing pipe and metal hose assemblies.
• Organize, delegate, and monitor daily work assignments for efficient workflow and timely orders.
• Operate and train others on fabrication equipment including saws, benders, welders, threading machines, presses, and testing rigs.
• Read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, isometrics, and work orders to meet customer specs.
• Perform precision pipe fitting and assembly to required tolerances.
• Direct welding processes (GTAW, GMAW) ensuring joint quality and codes.
• Inspect finished products and take corrective actions as needed.
• Coordinate with sales, quality, and shipping to resolve production issues.
• Enforce safety procedures and maintain a clean, hazard-free environment.
• Assist with troubleshooting and process improvement.
• Maintain materials, tools, and equipment; schedule preventive maintenance.
• Complete production logs and quality records.
