Job summary

Crysteel Manufacturing in Lake Crystal, MN seeks a hands-on supervisor/lead to support the Value Stream under SQDIP guidelines. You will assist the Value Stream Supervisor with lean improvement, training, and timely information flow.

Responsibilities include managing shifting priorities, nesting materials, FIFO workflow, and coordinating with maintenance and production teams. The role involves lifting up to 50 lbs, operating metalworking equipment, and ensuring safety and attendance standards

Qualifications

• Understanding of lean principles to lead teams.
• Willingness to learn new processes and lead by example with safety.
• Organization and time urgency to handle multiple projects with deadlines.
• Understanding BOMs and product flow; product knowledge preferred.
• Willingness to learn operations including welding, CNC machining and fabrication.

Job description

Job Summary: Responsible for meeting customer needs by:

• Assisting the Value Steam Supervisor with leading the Value Stream following Safety, Quality, Delivery, Inventory and Productivity (SQDIP)
• Assisting Value Stream Supervisor with Continuous Improvement and Kaizen events to reach established TBEI goals and initiatives
• Providing timely information to employees, Value Stream Supervisor and other areas as required (i.e., documentation, reports)
• Assist with employee performance appraisals and help hold employees accountable for performing, following safety guidelines and attendance expectations
• Assist the Value Stream Supervisor with identifying training needs, provide training, and float within the responsibility area where needed
• Securing building following shifts and opening building prior to production each day
• Complete nesting for all new material on Laser and Plasma machines, including expedites.
• Insure Cutting and Bending has the correct work in front of them following FIFO principles.
• Manage missing part and/or part shortages as they arise; including locating missing parts and driving expedites.
• Facilitate Night -Shift transition, insuring a clean hand-off of priorities through the shift.

Machines/Tools: Plasma tanks, brake presses, drill presses, saws, manual lathes, Bridgeport, Whitney, Laser, iron worker, overhead hoists, forklift trucks, computer, hand tools, power tools, measuring devices such as micrometers and t - squares

Essential Functions / Competency

• An understanding of lean principles and the ability to lead employees in the use of the lean tools.
• Open to understanding and implementing new processes. Must lead by example with positive attitude, following safety rules and work procedures, etc.
• Organization and time urgency - must be able to work on multiple projects with deadlines.
• An understanding of BOM’s and product flow. Product knowledge is preferred
• Willingness to learn and understand operations involved with area of assignment. This may include welding, CNC machine operation, installation and fabrication machinery.
• Completing and complying with annual Hazardous Waste Management Training for waste management, storage, transport and record keeping
• Must work in a safe manner following safety procedures including wearing PPE (personal protective equipment), completing maintenance requests and communicating hazards to co-workers and management. Must assist with root cause analysis and resolution of accident investigations.
• Post high school education is strongly preferred.
• Interpersonal skills and positive attitude to assist manager with finding and resolving problems.

Physical Demands

• Prompt and reliable attendance. Overtime and odd hours may be required to meet customer needs.
• Excellent communication skills must be used to regularly communicate and/or discuss issues affecting production, equipment, personnel, safety and their resolutions with management team before shift changes and as necessary.
• Ability to walk and stand on concrete for 90% of the shift. Able to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Good oral and written communication skills. Public speaking will be necessary to lead others in safety, training, group meetings, etc.
• Computer proficiency, specifically word documents and spreadsheets.
• Valid driver’s license with good driving record is required.

Additional Job Information

• Wage Expectations: $25.00 to $30.00 per hour plus $2.50/hr Shift Differential
• Pay: This is a non-exempt, hourly position and employees are paid on a bi-weekly basis
• Typical Schedule: Four (4) Ten (10) hour days M-F, Overtime may be available on your 5th day of the week and/or Saturdays
• Location: On Site - 52182 Ember Road, Lake Crystal MN 56055
• Travel: Very minimal to none
