Job summary

Crysteel Manufacturing in Lake Crystal, MN is seeking a capable Production Lead to support the assembly and mounting of custom truck bodies. You will supervise and mentor a team, operate machinery, and ensure adherence to safety and quality standards.

The role requires leadership, basic math, and experience with hydraulics, welding, and blueprints. A lean mindset and willingness to drive kaizen improvements are highly valued.

Qualifications

  • Must know basic math to set up and operate machines accurately, measure and problem solve.
  • Preferred experience operating a hand plasma and wire feed welding; ability to pass weld test is preferred.
  • Preferred one to two years of experience in Installation or related vehicle experience.

  • Lead and assist employees to meet the production schedule while maintaining personal production responsibilities.
  • Communicate with employees and management; document and report as required.
  • Assist the Lead with employee performance appraisals and accountability for company policies and safety.
  • Prioritize safety and environmental requirements; participate in root cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Support lean initiatives and kaizen events in area work cells.

Job description

Job Summary

Responsible for meeting customer needs by:

  • Layout, wiring, and mounting of custom truck bodies on trucks
  • Setting up and operating machines that will cut, bend, saw, punch steel into custom parts needed for body mounting
  • Completing mechanics work, i.e. hydraulics and mounting PTO's and pumps
  • Leading and assisting employees to meet the production schedule while maintaining your personal production responsibilities.
  • Communicate effectively with employees and Manager and other areas as required (i.e., documentation, reports).
  • Assisting the Lead with employee performance appraisals and holding employees accountable for company expectations, such as values and policies, etc.
  • Lead with Safety as a priority, following safety and environmental requirements, housekeeping, PPE, work procedures, etc. Assist with safety-related investigations, including root cause analysis and completing action items.
  • Communicate with employees and with all levels of management.
  • Other duties as assigned
Tools Used

Overhead chain hoists, forklift trucks, handcarts, all types of hand/air tools, business operating system, etc.

Safety Equipment

Safety glasses, steel-toed shoes with metatarsal guards, ear plugs, gloves, aprons, safety props, grinding shields, welding sleeves, etc.

Environment

Heavy industrial atmosphere including exposure to grease, oil, heat, humidity, occasionally cramped quarters, and possibly wet conditions

Job Requirements
  • Must have leadership, flexibility, and interpersonal skills to identify, analyze, and solve problems along with train and mentor employees.

  • Preferred experience operating a hand plasma and wire feed welding. Ability to pass weld test is preferred.
  • Preferred one to two years of experience in Installation or related vehicle experience
  • Ability to manually move product and materials up to 50 lbs. through regular heavy physical exertion, including but not limited to lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling and bending. Using the overhead hoists requires ability to push and pull up to 100 lbs.
  • Ability to stand and work on concrete for several hours at a time. Ability to work in a variety of positions, including kneeling, crouching, bending, twisting, turning and climbing.
  • Ability to read job specifications to determine material layouts, machine adjustments, complicated instructions, blueprints and measuring devices. Ability to perform basic computer data entry.
  • Basic understanding of hydraulics, PTO, frames, pumps, electrical controls and wiring.
  • Able to work in a team environment to identify and determine effective counter measures, attend and participate in required company meetings.
  • Ability to attain and maintain production efficiencies and quality standards.
  • Must work in a safe manner, i.e. following safety procedures, including wearing personal protection equipment noted above, completing maintenance requests, and communicating hazards to co-workers and management.
  • Must be a team player that works with other departments or facilities to meet company goals.
  • Must be detail orientated, energetic and goal driven.
  • Must embrace the lean tools and apply them for measurable results.
  • Must have desire to participate and lead kaizen events in area work cells.
Additional Job Information
  • Wage Expectations: $25.00 to $29.00 per hour
  • Pay: This is a non-exempt, hourly position and employees are paid on a bi-weekly basis
  • Typical Schedule: Four (4) Ten (10) hour days M-F, Overtime may be available on your 5th day of the week and/or Saturdays
  • Location: On Site - 52182 Ember Road, Lake Crystal MN 56055
  • Travel: Very minimal to none
