Job description

Fabricating Machine Operator - 2nd Shift (Manufacturing)

Job Summary: Responsible for meeting customer needs by:

  • Setting up and operating machines that will cut, bend, saw, and punch steel into parts that will be used in the assembly process
  • Assisting with continuous process improvement and lean initiatives by following process flow, remaining flexible to complete tasks as part of the team, maintaining a clean work environment and offering suggestions for improvements, etc.
  • Moving materials between work centers as needed
  • Other duties as assigned

Machines/Tools:

Safety

Plasma tanks, brake presses, drill presses, saws, manual lathes, Bridgeport, Whitney, iron worker, overhead hoists, forklift trucks, computer, hand tools, power tools, measuring devices such as micrometers and t - squares

Equipment:

Safety glasses, safety shoes with metatarsal guards, ear plugs, gloves, tinted face shield, etc.

Heavy industrial atmosphere including exposure to grease, oil, heat, humidity, occasionally cramped quarters and possibly wet conditions.

Job Requirements:

  • Must have basic math knowledge to set up and operate machines accurately.
  • Ability to manually move product and materials up to 50 lbs. through regular heavy physical exertion, including but not limited to lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling and bending. Using the overhead hoists requires ability to push and pull up to 100 lbs.
  • Ability to read job specifications to determine machine adjustments and complicated instructions, blueprints, measuring devices, and perform basic computer data entry.
  • Must have a wide field of vision for coordinated efforts with co- workers to move product and materials between manipulations.
  • Ability to stand and work in various positions on concrete for several hours at a time.
  • Must be a team player working with co-workers, other departments and/or other TBEI facilities. The focus is on meeting company goals and initiatives.
  • Ability to learn operations of multiple machines/jigs within a job area and must be able to regularly rotate jobs to meet job schedule, team needs or to meet any safety recommendations.
  • Must work at a reasonable pace (measured by production efficiency) and within our quality standards to insure timely completion of tasks and must work overtime as required to meet customer needs.
  • Must work in a safe manner following safety procedures, including: wearing PPE (Personal Protective Equipment), completing maintenance requests and communicating hazards to coworkers and management.

Additional Job Information:

  • Wage Expectations: $17.00 to $28.00 per hour
  • Pay: This is a non-exempt, hourly position and employees are paid on a bi-weekly basis
  • Typical Schedule: Four (4) Ten (10) hour days M-F, Overtime may be available on your 5th day of the week and/or Saturdays
  • Location: On Site – 52182 Ember Road, Lake Crystal MN 56055
  • Travel: Very minimal to none
