Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret blueprints and production documentation.
  • Set up, adjust, and operate laser cutting machines, punches, brakes, and panel benders.
  • Provide production coverage during absences, vacations, and training periods.
  • Assist with prototype jobs, new part introductions, and production runs.
  • Select appropriate tooling and materials required for assigned operations.
  • Perform machine adjustments and basic troubleshooting.
  • Load and unload materials, parts, and finished products.
  • Move materials and work-in-process throughout the fabrication department using approved material handling equipment.
  • Inspect parts using precision measuring equipment and document inspection results.
  • Complete setup documentation and production records as required.
  • Maintain quality standards and identify nonconforming material.
  • Follow all safety procedures, work instructions, and company policies.
  • Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas.
  • Assist with departmental cross-training and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Transition between work centers as business needs require.

Job description

The Fabrication Floater provides operational support throughout the Fabrication Department by serving as a trained backup for multiple fabrication processes and equipment, including laser cutting machines, punch presses, brake presses, panel benders/folding machines, and other fabrication equipment as needed. This position is responsible for maintaining production flow during employee absences, vacations, training periods, and fluctuations in workload while ensuring quality, safety, and productivity standards are met.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
