Job summary

EK is seeking a fabrication assistant to support the fabrication department. The role involves assisting machine operators, loading and unloading materials, and preparing parts for finishing processes.

The incumbent will also perform basic drilling and assembly tasks, apply rust preventative, and ensure the work area remains clean and organized. Physical effort includes lifting up to 75–80 pounds as required.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • 1–3 months related experience or training.
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Reasonable accommodations may be provided.
  • Ability to read and understand simple instructions.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to perform basic math.

Responsibilities

  • Assist fabrication and machine operators with duties.
  • Unload/load materials to/from lasers, pallets, skids, conveyors, or trucks.
  • Load parts into tumbler and remove after processing.
  • Apply rust preventative to fabricated parts when needed.
  • Remove burrs or excess metal from parts.
  • Plan assembly procedures per specifications.
  • Drill, tap, or ream holes.
  • Align components and fasten with bolts, screws, or rivets.
  • Test operation of completed product.
  • Keep the work area clean and organized.

Summary

Assists the fabrication department by performing the following duties.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assists other machine operators with fabrication duties.
  • Unloads materials, parts, or products onto or from lasers, pallets, skids, conveyors, or trucks and identifies each load with the job number.
  • Loads fabricated parts into tumbler and removes them after a designated time period.
  • Applies rust preventative to fabricated parts when necessary.
  • Removes burrs or excess metal from fabricated parts.
  • Plans assembly procedures following specifications.
  • Drills, taps, or reams holes.
  • Aligns components, and bolts, screws, or rivets them together.
  • Tests or assists in testing operation of completed product.
  • Cleans and organizes work area.
Qualifications

Education and/or Experience

High School Diploma or GED; one to three months related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions and memos, as well as operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information one-on-one to other employees of the organization.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
