Job summary

The Texas Institute for Electronics (TIE), supported by The University of Texas at Austin, seeks a FAB Equipment Technician across Levels I–Master on the Pickle Research Campus. You will run and maintain semiconductor equipment, gather data, and support tool installations with engineers and senior technicians.

Applicants should have a High School Diploma; higher tech degrees are preferred. This full-time role emphasizes safety, 5S workflows, and cross-functional teamwork on a busy production

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma (required)
  • Experience in FAB processes/equipment/operations/logistics/spare management is preferred
  • Level I: 0–3 years; Level II: 3–10 years; Senior: 10–15+ years; Master: 20+ years
  • Familiarity with safety standards and tool maintenance processes.

Responsibilities

  • Run equipment daily per EE or Sr. Tech instructions.
  • Generate data and interpret tool data for broader use.
  • Identify tool related problems and fix under guidance.
  • Conduct daily FAB walks for 5S and safety.
  • Interpret tool signals and respond per instructions.
  • Manage inventory of spares and tool components.
  • Learn tool PM/BM procedures and assist.
  • Assist in tool installation and setup as guided.
  • Learn to bring tools back to safe operating mode.
  • Mentor Levels I/II and participate in certification trainings.
  • Create procedures for tool development and training.

Education

High School Diploma
Associate’s degree or higher in technology, mechanical engineering technology, equipment engineering technology, industrial maintenance technology, or a related field
