Job summary

GM Performance Power Units, Concord, NC, seeks a 1D engine simulation expert to develop physics-based GT Power models for combustion engines. You will simulate intake/exhaust systems, correlate to dyno/vehicle data, and provide data-driven recommendations for hardware and calibration development.

You will lead DOEs, optimize designs, and translate CFD/test insights into actionable models while collaborating with hardware, calibration, and vehicle integration teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Automotive, or Aerospace Engineering or related field.
• 4+ years in propulsion simulation or engine performance analysis with GT SUITE/GT Power.
• Strong understanding of combustion engines, thermodynamics, and heat transfer.
• Experience building, correlating, and evaluating 1D models for hardware development.
• Proficiency with data analysis and scripting for post processing and reporting.
• Excellent written and verbal communication for technical reviews.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain 1D engine and propulsion models in GT Power for intake/exhaust systems.
• Correlate models to test data (dyno/rig/vehicle) and document assumptions.
• Simulate full load/part load maps to support performance and thermal assessments.
• Perform DOE and optimization studies in GT Suite for design/calibration spaces.
• Translate 3D CFD/test insights into 1D representations for manifolds/ports.
• Develop templates for GT Power model setup, correlation, and analyses.
• Process large model/data sets for post processing, visualization, and reporting.
• Provide design/calibration recommendations at component/system level.
• Communicate results through reports, presentations, and design reviews.
