Job summary

The Peninsula Chicago is seeking a Busser who is highly organized to support our luxury dining rooms on Michigan Avenue in Chicago. This role contributes to a memorable guest experience by assisting servers, performing pre- and post-service tasks, and ensuring consistent service throughout all meal periods.

Responsibilities

• Provide service in greeting, seating, and waiting on guests in a discreet, unobtrusive manner.
• Support servers during service (pouring water/coffee, clearing tables, etc.).
• Perform pre-service and after-service procedures according to standards.
• Maintain knowledge of all menu items and ingredients; communicate special requests and dietary needs as required.
• Ensure consistency of service techniques across meal periods.

• Work for a luxury Five-Star, Five-Diamond property in the heart of Michigan Avenue, Chicago.

Key Accountabilities:

• Responsible for activities related to service of the restaurant, which includes preparation tasks, training and performing service as per standards set by the hotel.
• Perform friendly, yet discreet and unobtrusive service in greeting, seating, and waiting on all guests.
• Perform pre-service and after-service procedures as per standards.
• Ensure a consistency of the correct service techniques for all meal periods.
• Have complete knowledge of all food and beverage items on the menu, including ingredients, methods of preparation.
• Support servers during service when required by server or management, for instance pouring water, juice, coffee, clearing, etc.
• This description is not inclusive of all job tasks but a guide, and may be added or removed by management according to changes that may occur in the working environment.
