Job summary

Henry Ford Health in Monroe is seeking an Optical Eye Care Assistant to select, measure, and fit eyewear per doctors' prescriptions. The role includes lens/frame guidance, order entry, and insurance coordination within HF Optimeyes Monroe.

Responsibilities cover front desk support, patient check-in/out, and ensuring quality eyewear fitting with proper verification using lensometers as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Prior computer experience and basic math skills preferred.
• Experience in customer service, retail, or hospitality preferred.
• Dispensing/optical experience preferred.
• Must be able to walk, bend and stand for extended periods.
• Completion of required HF Optimeyes training courses.

Responsibilities

• Customize eyewear prescriptions using the supported process and troubleshoot issues.
• Explain lens family options and benefits to patients.
• Know frame materials and pre-adjust frames before measurements.
• Take and record measurements to fabricate lenses.
• Input and process eyewear orders into the optical laboratory software.
• Follow up on eyewear orders through completion and delivery.
• Ensure displays and eyewear are clean per the plan-o-gram.
• Explain and apply vision insurance coverage; assist with dispensing and adjustments.
• Assist with front desk tasks: check-in/out, schedule appointments, verify insurance.
• Verify spectacle prescriptions with auto/manual lensometers as needed.
