Job summary

U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs is seeking experienced Health Tech (Opticians) to support VCS Optical Shops at the Nashville VA Medical Center and clinics. You will coordinate optical operations and act as a liaison between eye clinic providers and prosthetics teams to deliver exceptional service to Veterans.

This role emphasizes precise eyewear fittings, patient-focused care, and collaboration with multiple teams to ensure accurate orders and timely delivery of eyewear solutions.

Qualifications

• Certification by State Board of Opticianry (state requirements apply).
• Minimum 1 year experience as an Optician.
• Ability to work independently with high patient service standards.
• Proficient in eyewear fitting, prescription interpretation, and order accuracy.
• Experience with optical equipment and tools listed.

Responsibilities

• Greet customers and provide knowledgeable frame selection, pricing, product options, and timelines.
• Maintain a professional, welcoming environment while assisting patients.
• Perform eyewear fittings and precise measurements using digital pupilmeters and lensometers.
• Document patient information and measurements in CPRS.
• Process eyewear orders, collect payments, and enter orders in VA systems.
• Promote lens options, upgrades, and eyewear using a consultative approach.
• Collaborate with eye clinics, labs, prosthetics staff, and vendors to track orders and resolve issues.
• Address customer concerns professionally and escalate complex issues when necessary.
• Maintain eyewear displays and assist with inventory and asset protection.
