Job summary

Graystone Eye in Lenoir, NC seeks an experienced ophthalmic technician to fill eyeglass prescriptions and fit lenses and frames.

Under supervision, you will measure pupillary distance, assist in frame selection, and prepare work orders for grinding lenses. Strong communication and attention to detail are essential.

Candidates should have High School education, optical-related experience preferred, and be willing to travel to satellite locations.

Responsibilities

• Stacks, straightens, and cleans frame boards as necessary.
• Determines client's current lens prescription using lensometer or analysis equipment.
• Recommends specific lenses, coatings, and frames to suit client needs.
• Assists client in selecting frames according to style and facial measurements.
• Measures bridge and eye size, temple length, vertex distance, pupillary distance, and centers of eyes.
• Prepares work orders and instructions for grinding lenses and fabricating eyeglasses.
• Verifies finished lenses meet specifications.
• Heats and adjusts frames to fit clients.
• Instructs clients on adapting to and caring for eyeglasses.
• Evaluates issues with patients' eyeglasses.
• Sells optical goods and repairs damaged frames.
