Job summary

HW Staffing Solutions is seeking an Eyelet Toolmaker for 1st and 2nd shifts in Waterbury, CT. You will set up and maintain deep draw transfer tools, troubleshoot production issues, and repair or adjust tooling to ensure high-quality parts.

Eyelet Toolmaker - 1st & 2nd Shift Opportunities

SUMMARY

Perform a variety of duties, set up and maintain a complete range of deep draw transfer press tools. Troubleshoot Production problems and make repairs/adjustments to tools to ensure acceptable quality of company products. Must be able to develop and maintain complex and diversified tools.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Work from Specifications, blueprints, sketches, and verbal instructions to construct most difficult and exacting sets of new tools, transfer fingers, and gages. Functions performed are of the highest difficulty and require a significant amount of experience and ingenuity.
  • Use shop mathematics and trigonometry to establish allowances. Build tools in accordance with established tolerances.
  • File, grind, contour, fit and finish tooling by hand as required. Prove out tooling with a sample run, position by position. Obtain required Quality Assurance approvals on sample. Harden tools to specifications following established procedures. Make spare parts or repair machinery as required.
  • Prepare machines for production run, remove tools from the previous job, and install new tools. Check each station and make required adjustments to ensure acceptable product. Make an initial run of product, check dimensions and notify supervisor. Submit first piece to Quality Assurance for approval on new tools.
  • Troubleshoot subsequent production problems. Take over the operation of the machine and make thorough observations to determine extent and cause of trouble. Adjust tooling, speeds, and feeds and/or make repairs to worn or broken tooling as required. Solicit assistance from maintenance mechanics and electricians as required. Turn the operation back to the machine operator once corrections have been made and satisfactory product is being produced.
  • Employee must use a computer to enter SPC data and other small amounts of data entry.
  • Must be able to work in a cell environment or in small team environment.
MARGINAL FUNCTIONS
  • Perform similar and related duties as assigned or as position dictates.
  • Perform timely tooling changeovers.
  • Instruct machine operators on proper operation to maintain high quality product.
  • Follow all safety rules and regulations.
  • Ensure proper housekeeping of area.

State certified apprenticeship preferred but not required.
