Job summary

UCI Health in California is seeking a Certified Ophthalmic Assistant to join the Eye Care team. You will conduct preliminary exams, record patient history, test visual acuity, measure intra-ocular pressure, and assist with refractions and color tests, under physician orders.

You will also support with minor surgical procedures, educate patients, and help retrieve lab and radiology reports. A COA certification and current BLS by time of hire are required.

Qualifications

• Understanding of medical terminology and infection control.
• Previous Ophthalmic Assistant experience.
• Strong English communication skills.
• Current BLS certification required by time of hire.

Responsibilities

• Record patient history and test visual acuity.
• Perform intra-ocular pressure testing and refractions.
• Set up, assist with minor surgical procedures and clean up.
• Educate patients and retrieve lab and radiology reports.
