Job summary

Capital Health Plan seeks an Eye Care Patient Care Representative to serve as the first contact for members seeking care. You will check in patients, verify coverage, obtain visit documentation, and explain services.

You’ll answer calls, schedule appointments, and document interactions in the EHR, while handling payments and ensuring smooth clinic operations. As part of a not-for-profit health system, you’ll join a team dedicated to respectful, professional service and patient-centered care,

Qualifications

  • 1+ months of related experience or training.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to learn software programs used for appointment scheduling and accessing patient information.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence and effectively communicate with patients, coworkers, and small groups.

EYE CARE PATIENT CARE REPRESENTATIVE QUALIFICATIONS:
  • 1+ months of related experience or training
  • High school diploma or equivalent OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
  • Ability to learn software programs used for appointment scheduling and accessing patient information
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, correspondence, and memos
  • Ability to write simple correspondence and effectively communicate with patients, coworkers, and small groups
  • Basic mathematical skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, ratios, percentages, and interpreting graphs
  • Ability to apply common-sense understanding to carry out written, verbal, and diagram-based instructions
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in a standardized healthcare environment
  • Skill in using office equipment, including copiers and fax machines
  • Ability to multitask while interacting with people in a pleasant and professional manner
WHAT VITAL ASSISTANCE DO YOU PROVIDE?

This is a full-time position within the Eye Care Department. As an Eye Care Patient Care Representative, you will serve as the initial contact for Capital Health Plan members seeking medical care. Throughout the day, you will check members in for appointments, verify membership and coverage, obtain required visit documentation, and provide information regarding health services recommended by practitioners. You will answer incoming phone calls, route calls appropriately, schedule appointments, and document patient interactions within the Electronic Health Record (EHR). You will manage multiple appointment schedules while accurately recording confirmations, cancellations, and no-shows. Following patient visits, you will check patients out, print encounter documents, and arrange follow-up care as directed. You will collect and record patient cost shares, prepare and reconcile monies and financial forms, and review visit charges while bringing unresolved alerts or concerns to the attention of the practitioner or supervisor. You will also perform clerical duties such as sending faxes, making copies, filing documents, and maintaining a safe, organized, and professional waiting area and work environment. Additional duties will be performed as assigned.
