Job summary

D&W Fine Pack is seeking punctual, safety-minded personnel to operate extrusion and forming equipment in our production facility in Elk Grove Village, IL. This role involves rotating 12-hour shifts with every other weekend off and requires strict adherence to quality and GMP standards.

Responsibilities include setting up machinery, monitoring gauges, recording logs, and maintaining product quality while meeting scrap targets.

Qualifications

  • Experience operating extrusion machinery in a manufacturing setting.
  • Ability to read and follow job specifications and instructions.
  • Willingness to work overtime and cross-train as needed.
  • Ability to operate floor loading trucks when required.
  • Adherence to safety guidelines and GMP practices.

Responsibilities

  • Reads job specifications to determine machine adjustments and material requirements.
  • Adjusts settings to ensure sheet meets defined processing standards and inspects quality.
  • Operates two extrusion lines and two forming machines.
  • Completes daily logs and routine maintenance tasks.
  • Monitors operations and responds to alarms to minimize scrap.

In this function you will operate machinery used in manufacturing high-quality food packaging products.Shift Times: 5:45pm-6:15am. Rotating 12-hour shifts with every other weekend off. Pay Rate: $20-24 based on experience.RESPONSIBILITIES & QUALIFICATIONSQualificationsPrior Experience with Extrusion Machine OperationManufacturing ExperienceWillingness to work and follow verbal/written instructionsMay be required to use floor loading trucksAbility to work safely, willingness to train in cross-functional areas, and work overtime as needed.TasksReads job specifications to determine machine adjustments, and material requirementsAdjusts settings and controls to ensure sheet is within defined processing standardsEnsures sheet quality by performing required quality assurance tests and inspectionsOperates at or below Company scrap targetsUnderstands and completes daily MCL tasksWorks to reduce rejected rolls per-month measurementMakes high-quality food packaging through the thermoforming processEnsures that all product manufactured on assigned machine is within Company quality limits; immediately recognizes quality issues and takes actionMonitors in-line inspection; completes any re-inspection that is ordered due to quality issues from assigned lineFollows plant quality practices including Good Manufacturing Practices, or GMP’sProductivityWorks to achieve 100% on-time completion of scheduled productionOperates two types of extruder lines including proper start-up/shut-downOperates two types of forming machinesAdjusts machine components to regulate speeds, pressures, and temperatures, and amounts, dimensions, and flow of materialsMonitors machine operations and observes lights and gauges to detect malfunctions; presses control buttons to activate machinery and equipmentOperates relevant material handling systemsUnderstands basic functions of the extruder auxiliary systemsHandles rolls and moves finished product to the curing areaGeneral & AdministrativeCompletes and fills out daily logs/reports as requiredCompletes all assigned cleaning/preventive maintenance tasksDelivers scrap to reprocessing area in the appropriate mannerExecutes basic Troubleshooting and adjusts basic processing problems.Immediately notifies supervisor of any/all processing or maintenance problems on assigned lineAssists other employees to set up machines and transport finished work piecesReports to work on-time and follows D&W attendance policy and guidelinesNo direct supervision responsibilitiesSafetyEnsures equipment used in extrusion process is operated properly and all safety mechanisms and guards are in placeUnderstands how to handle machine properly during an emergency, which includes power outages, machine failure, workplace injuries, etc.Follows plant safety procedures and guidelines; wears and utilizes personal protective equipment (PPE) as requiredUnderstands and performs Lock-out/Tag-out proceduresInforms supervisor of safety issues; reports any workplace injury or incident immediatelyHourly rate varies based on shift with opportunity for added incentives such as:Night shift differentialMore than a job.
