Job summary

West Pharmaceutical Services in North Carolina is seeking an Extruding/Compounding Operator to prepare and convert weighted raw materials into compounded materials that meet specifications. Duties include operating mixing equipment, extruder, calendar, measuring, assembling materials and documenting processes.

Under supervision, you will monitor dimensions, ensure quality, and maintain a clean, organized work area.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• 1+ year cGMP manufacturing experience is preferred.
• Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks.
• Watching gauges, dials, or other indicators to ensure machines operate properly.
• Proficiency in using automated systems (HDMI).
• Ability to maintain good documentation practices.

Responsibilities

• Retrieve approved ingredients to prepare formulations.
• Deliver approved ingredients to each production area.
• Operate mixing equipment, extruder, calendar and other related equipment.
• Monitor dimensions with measuring tools and micrometer; inspect dimensions.
• Assemble materials according to formulations using appropriate handling devices.
• Weigh and document formulas and complete QC, SPC, and production forms.
• Load recipes and set up extruders for items with correct weights and dimensions.
• Troubleshoot equipment to prevent production issues.
• Operate forklift after certification to move compounded materials.
• Keep the compounding area and equipment clean and organized.
• Notify supervisor of any off-standard work or unsafe conditions.

Job Summary
Duties will be performed under direction of trainer and supervisor. Extruding/Compounding Operator is to accurately and consistently prepare and convert weighted raw materials into mixed compounded materials from which our various products are produced and meet our customer specifications. Use quick thinking and confident to ensure consistent processing and foresight to know the next task required.
Shift

• Day Shift (A) on 2, 2, 3 rotating schedule.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

• Retrieve approved ingredients in preparation to make our various product formulations.
• Prepare, identify and deliver these approved ingredients to each area/stage of the production process.
• Operate mixing equipment, extruder, cutter, calendar and other auxiliary equipment in forming, shaping and cutting mixed materials for further processing.
• Monitor dimensions by using measuring equipment and micrometer; monitor computer generated dimensions.
• Assemble all required materials according to our specific product formulation using the area forklift or other material handling devices as required to assemble these items.
• Operate all required equipment to mix, form, shape and/or cut these prepared materials for further product processing.
• Weigh up and document formulas that do not meet specifications and completes necessary QC, SPC, and production forms.
• Load recipe and set up the extruders (Inner Rings, Outer Rings, Ring Components) for items to be ran while maintaining the correct weight, length, and width of stock.
• Problem solve and troubleshoot equipment related issues that are adversely affecting the unit’s production.
• After certification, operate forklift and other material handling devices as needed to bring totes of compounded materials to be extruded to the extrusion area.
• Keep the compounding area and all equipment in this area clean and in orderly condition.
• Keeps Compounding Supervisor informed of off-standard work and any unusual or unsafe conditions encountered .

Education

• High School Diploma or GED required.

Work Experience

• No minimum experience required.
• 1+ year cGMP manufacturing experience preferred.

Physical Requirements

• Heavy-Exerting up to 100lbs/45kg of force occasionally and/or up to 50lb/22kg of force frequently, and/or up to 20lbs/9kg of force constantly to move objects.
