Job summary

West Pharmaceutical Services, Inc. seeks an Extruding/Compounding Operator to accurately convert weighted raw materials into compounded materials per customer specifications. Work under supervision on a Day Shift (A) with a 2-2-3 rotating schedule.

Responsibilities include handling approved ingredients, operating extrusion and related equipment, and maintaining precise documentation in a GMP setting. The role requires a High School Diploma or GED, ability to multitask, and adherence to safety

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • No minimum experience required; 1+ year cGMP manufacturing preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, identify and deliver approved ingredients to each area of the production process.
  • Operate mixing equipment, extruder, cutter, calendar and other auxiliary equipment as required.
  • Load recipe and set up extruders for items to be ran while maintaining correct weight, length, and width of stock.
  • Weigh and document formulas that do not meet specifications and complete QC, SPC, and production forms.
  • Keep the compounding area and equipment clean and orderly; report off-standard conditions.

Job Summary

Duties will be performed under direction of trainer and supervisor. Extruding/Compounding Operator is to accurately and consistently prepare and convert weighted raw materials into mixed compounded materials from which our various products are produced and meet our customer specifications. Use quick thinking and confident to ensure consistent processing and foresight to know the next task required.

Shift
  • Day Shift (A) on 2, 2, 3 rotating schedule.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
  • Retrieve approved ingredients in preparation to make our various product formulations.
  • Prepare, identify and deliver these approved ingredients to each area/stage of the production process.
  • Operate mixing equipment, extruder, cutter, calendar and other auxiliary equipment in forming, shaping and cutting mixed materials for further processing.
  • Monitor dimensions by using measuring equipment and micrometer; monitor computer generated dimensions.
  • Assemble all required materials according to our specific product formulation using the area forklift or other material handling devices as required to assemble these items.
  • Operate all required equipment to mix, form, shape and/or cut these prepared materials for further product processing.
  • Weigh up and document formulas that do not meet specifications and completes necessary QC, SPC, and production forms.
  • Load recipe and set up the extruders (Inner Rings, Outer Rings, Ring Components) for items to be ran while maintaining the correct weight, length, and width of stock.
  • Problem solve and troubleshoot equipment related issues that are adversely affecting the unit’s production.
  • After certification, operate forklift and other material handling devices as needed to bring totes of compounded materials to be extruded to the extrusion area.
  • Keep the compounding area and all equipment in this area clean and in orderly condition.
  • Keeps Compounding Supervisor informed of off-standard work and any unusual or unsafe conditions encountered .
Education
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
Work Experience
  • No minimum experience required.
  • 1+ year cGMP manufacturing experience preferred.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills And Abilities
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks.
  • Watching gauges, dials, or other indicators to make sure a machine is working properly.
  • Proficiency in using automated systems (HDMI).
  • Ability to maintain good documentation practices.

Physical Requirements

Heavy-Exerting up to 100lbs/45kg of force occasionally and/or up to 50lb/22kg of force frequently, and/or up to 20lbs/9kg of force constantly to move objects.
