Job summary

West Pharmaceutical Services is hiring an Extruding/Compounding Operator to accurately prepare and convert weighted raw materials into mixed compounds for product formulations. You will operate extruders, mixers, cutters, and related equipment, while documenting ingredients and ensuring the correct weights and dimensions.

Role requires minimal direct supervision, strong teamwork, and the ability to follow training procedures.

Responsibilities

• Retrieve approved ingredients and document them for product formulations.
• Operate mixing equipment, extruder, cutter, calendar and related equipment.
• Monitor dimensions with measuring tools and computer measurements.
• Prepare and deliver ingredients to each production area.
• Assemble materials according to product formulation using forklifts or handling devices.
• Operate equipment to mix, form, shape or cut materials for processing.
• Weigh and document formulas not meeting specs and complete QC/production forms.
• Load recipes and set up extruders under trainer guidance for correct weights and dimensions.
• Transport compounded materials to extrusion area using forklifts.
• Keep the compounding area and equipment clean and orderly.
• Inform supervisor of off-standard work or unsafe conditions.

Job Summary

The duty of the Extruding/Compounding Operator is to accurately and consistently prepare and convert weighted raw materials into mixed compounded materials from which our various products are produced and meet our customer specifications. Use quick thinking and confident to ensure consistent processing and foresight to know the next task required. As Jr. associate majority of duties should be performed with minimal input and training.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

• With minimal direction, retrieve approved ingredients in preparation to make our various product formulations; documenting and recording the ingredients to make each of the various compounds to be produced.
• With minimal direction, operates mixing equipment, extruder, cutter, calendar and other auxiliary equipment in forming, shaping and cutting mixed materials for further processing.
• Monitors dimensions by using measuring equipment and micrometer; monitors computer generated dimensions.
• With minimal direction, prepare, identify and deliver these approved ingredients to each area/stage of the production process
• With minimal direction, assemble all required materials according to our specific product formulation using the area forklift or other material handling devices as required to assemble these items.
• With minimal direction, operate all required equipment to mix, form, shape and/or cut these prepared materials for further product processing.
• With minimal direction, weigh up and document formulas that do not meet specifications and completes necessary QC, SPC and production forms.
• With some direction from trainer load recipe and set up the extruders (Inner rings, Outer Rings, Ring Components) for items to be ran while maintaining the correct weight, length and width of stock.
• Operate forklift and other material handling devices as needed to bring totes of compounded materials to be extruded to the extrusion area.
• Keep the compounding area and all equipment in this area clean and in orderly condition.
• Keeps Compounding Supervisor informed of off-standard work and any unusual or unsafe conditions encountered.

Shift

Shift Schedule: Friday–Sunday, 12-hour overnight shift, 6:50 PM–7:00 AM

Training Schedule: New hires will train on the day shift, 6:50 AM–7:00 PM, Friday–Sunday for approximately 4–6 months before transitioning to the overnight schedule

Education

• Ability to pass pre-employment testing

Work Experience

• No min required 3 to 6 months production required

Physical Requirements

Medium-Exerting up to 50lb/22kg of force occasionally and/or up to 20lbs/9kg of force frequently, and/or up to 10lbs/4kgs of force constantly to move objects.
