Job summary

Mars, Incorporated and its Affiliates seeks an Extruder Operator for the Royal Canin site in Fremont, NE. You will operate and adjust extrusion-related equipment, ensure product quality, and follow safety and sanitation standards on a 6 PM–6:30 AM 2-2-3 shift, contributing to efficient, high-quality production.

You should have a HS diploma or GED, 3+ years in manufacturing, and be able to read procedures and communicate in English. Forklift ability and willingness to train others are a plus.

  • 3+ years of manufacturing experience operating a variety of machines.
  • Ability to understand and effectively communicate in English.
  • Must be able to work nights and varying schedules.

Responsibilities

  • Operate extrusion, drying, coating, cooling, product transfer, and cleaning equipment and systems.
  • Operate production and processing systems in accordance with Mars Petcare Operating Procedures; in a safe, productive, and efficient manner.
  • Perform quality control checks and maintain CCPs as per procedures.
  • Provide reporting and documentation of Quality, Production, Maintenance, and Sanitation activities.

Job: Extruder Operator
Shift: Nights (6PM - 6:30AM) 2-2-3 rotation
Location: Royal Canin, Fremont, NE

The Extruder Operator functions as a member of an area team that is directly responsible for the efficient production of quality products in the required quantities. This role will operate/change over specified machinery in the assigned area. Extruder Operators must ensure efficiency, operational conformance, product quality, and continuous improvement. Extruder Operators must have the skill set to train and/or perform the tasks of other associates in the area as needed. This job requires strong communication, interpersonal, and team-building skills to support site objectives.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Operate extrusion, drying, coating, cooling, product transfer, and cleaning equipment and systems
  • Operate production and processing systems in accordance with Mars Petcare Operating
  • Procedures; in a safe, productive, and efficient manner at all times.
  • Perform Processing operational activity according to production and planning schedules and requirements
  • Perform required Quality Control checks and/or analysis on each production of processed and coated materials in accordance with Mars Petcare Quality Procedures.
  • Maintain CCPs in the department
  • Perform the CCP procedure according to SOPs
  • Perform periodic and routine inventories of raw materials in storage
  • Provide and perform routine maintenance and checks on equipment
  • Provide reporting and documentation of Quality, Production, Maintenance, and Sanitation activities in accordance with Mars Petcare Operating Procedures
  • Assist in other production, sanitation, maintenance, and quality activity in other areas as directed.
  • Provide functional communications with other staff members as necessary to optimize quality, efficiency, productivity, and safety.
  • Perform all duties in compliance with Mars Petcare Quality Procedures and Good Manufacturing Practices.
  • Adhere to all Mars Petcare safety requirements.
  • Perform housekeeping and sanitation procedures in accordance with Mars Petcare's Food Safety and Sanitation Program.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Assist the plant to meet or exceed production goals.
  • Maintain a clean, safe work environment that promotes associate safety and product integrity.
  • All associates are responsible for the safety, quality, and food safety in their work area.
Physical/Environmental Requirements
  • Standing on a concrete floor
  • Wearing proper personal protective equipment (hair net, bump cap, earplugs, safety shoes, and uniform)
  • Bending, stooping, twisting, turning, standing for extended time periods, reaching, climbing stairs, and lifting up to 55lbs
  • Must be able to adapt to temperature and environmental extremes such as hot to cold, dust dirt, and chemicals
  • Vision correctable to 20/20
Education & Professional Qualifications
  • Be 18 years of age or older
  • Have a high school diploma, GED, or equivalent education
  • Must be willing and able to work and accept varying shifts and schedules
  • Ability to understand and effectively communicate in the English language
Knowledge / Experience
  • 3+ years of manufacturing experience operating a variety of machines
  • 2 years of work experience within manufacturing, or a technical and/or trade discipline
  • Demonstrated competency in computer and pc software including MS Office and email
  • Knowledge of inventory control principles
  • Ability to operate a forklift and scissor lift
