Job summary

Illinois State University is looking for an Extra Help Building Service Worker to clean and sanitize designated spaces in accordance with established standards.

The role supports the Janitorial Department with a maximum of 28 hours per week, including overnight and weekend shifts. A high school diploma is required and a valid driver’s license is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to walk and stand for 6-8 hours per day.
• Lift up to 35 lbs and push/pull up to 80 lbs.
• Able to bend, stoop, twist and climb ladders/stairs; work around dust, fumes and irritants.
• Shift availability may include overnights, weekends and early mornings.

Responsibilities

• Directly responsible for cleaning, sanitizing or disinfecting designated spaces according to standards.
• Follow safety procedures and use cleaning chemicals as required.
• Maintain cleanliness of both interior and exterior areas as assigned.

Work Hours

Hours not to exceed 28 per week. Shift availability includes overnights, weekends, and early morning hours.

Functional Expectations

Must be able to complete the following with or without a reasonable accommodation:

• Ability to push/pull up to 80 lbs
• Ability to bend, stoop, twist; ability to climb ladders and stairs; ability to work above shoulder level for extended periods of time; ability to work around dust, fumes, and environmental irritants.
